About Me

My Story

Minutes after  the birth of my first child my husband and I turned
to each other and said "WOW!".  We felt as if we had just been
on a wild trip.  And in fact, we had, we had just returned from a
journey into what is often called "labor-land".   After that
experience I had to know more! I read every book I could find
and watched every video.  I listened to my friends and families
birth stories and shared mine with anyone who would listen.
Each birth was a new and exciting experience to me.

Years  later I still find birth incredible.  From the moment of
conception to the baby's first breath, I am amazed.  From the
delicate ways our bodies change during pregnancy to the
powerful ways our bodies work to push our babies into the
world.  I am amazed!  I have seen women cry in labor and want
to quit and only moments later laugh and smile as they peer at
their new baby.  To be a part of this amazing journey is a blessing.

I now have four beautiful children and each one of their births
were so different, yet somehow the same.  My body miraculously
remembered everything it needed to do for each birth, and I still
stand amazed.  Amazed that I carry the power and the strength to
bring life into this world.  As you do, as we all  do.
Right after the birth of my
first baby girl, ten years
ago!  I have given birth in
a hospital, a birthing
center and at home with
midwives.
